Do You Know How To Speak To An Avid (or Fanatical) Anti-Firearms Nut?

FIRST THINGS FIRST...

NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
speak to them like they speak to you.

  • These people are REACTING from gut instinct, probably from seeing pictures of gunshot babies or from the 'Tribal' feeling one gets in participating in a rally or uprising,

Not ACTING from a calm, rational base of information tied to the 'real' world.

The absolute WORST thing you can do is get into a confrontational argument with someone in public.
YOU will look like an aggressive extremist.
Stay calm at all costs, stay rational, use correct names for things and quote sources correctly.
Assume a non-confrontation manner and posture.
Try and explain to them that 'Gun Control' is only endangering their lives and the lives of their families...

So called 'Gun Control' doesn't mean a thing to criminals...
The one thing our government hasn't figured out yet is criminals don't care what laws you pass.
    Know when to walk away...

  • A PBS TV News Station from Boston conducted street interviews 1/2 block from the Senate of the United States during debate on the 'Assault Weapons Ban'.
Out of 283 people interviewed on the street, NOT ONE PERSON could correctly give a description of an 'Assault Weapon'.

Think about that for a minute...
Nearly three hundred people, more than half working in the Senate building, couldn't identify or accurately describe an 'Assault Weapon', although the Senate was trying to decide how many 'Features' an 'Assault Weapon' had that could be restricted or banned outright!

    Here is a fact:
An 'Assault Weapon', by definition, is a short barreled rifle, with selective fire (fully automatic fire capable).
This definition is lifted from the United States Joint Chiefs Of Staff Definitions And Rules Of Engagement literature printed since Viet Nam.

  • No where does the currently accepted definition of 'Assault Weapon' list pistol grips, folding or retractable stocks, threaded barrels, bayonet lugs, detachable magazines and the like.

Nearly All Barrels are threaded, that's how they are attached to the receiver. Only the cheapest of the mass produced and imported crap have pinned barrels.
Barrels pinned in place are dangerous because the pins vibrate loose.

Folding or retractable stocks are covered under existing BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms) regulations.
Rifles are required to have 16 inches from closed bolt face to the muzzle, and have to be 26 inches or more overall.
BATF regulates shotguns at 18 inch barrel from closed bolt face to muzzle, and 26 inches overall.
Some states and even large cities have their own laws mandating even longer barrels and overall lengths.

I personally never saw the need for a civilian to have a 30 round magazine, but they are a ball of fun when you are ammo wasting at the range!
Why were rimfire magazines included, unless no one in Washington D.C. knows the difference...
I view this restriction as another violation of my right to the pursuit of happiness, right to bear arms among others.

Bayonet lugs (bayonet attachment points) on rifles were places I mounted lights, lasers, by-pods, and other accessories.
Why not restrict having a mounted bayonet, instead of restricting a mounting point?

So called 'Gun Control' doesn't mean a thing to criminals...
The one thing our government hasn't figured out yet is criminals don't care what laws you pass.

  • GUNS SAVE LIVES!
There is a headline you will never see in the modern media!
The fact of the matter is, people are being killed because of the gun laws, not in spite of them!
By using laws to disarm the general public, the criminals have a vastly superior upper hand in any encounter.

So called 'Gun Control' doesn't mean a thing to criminals...
The one thing our government hasn't figured out yet is criminals don't care what laws you pass.
